Founded in Manhattan in 1998, the firm of Mayerson Stutman Abramowitz, LLP now consists of eight lawyers, concentrating their practice on divorce and matrimonial law, as well as related family law issues. In addition to bringing extensive experience to the negotiation and litigation through trial of contested matrimonial cases, the firm provides representation and counseling to clients seeking marital settlement and separation agreements, as well as prenuptial and post-nuptial agreements.

The firm assists clients with issues of child custody and visitation, equitable distribution of property, valuation of businesses and professional practices, spousal maintenance and alimony, child support, paternity and a myriad of other matters arising out of marital and cohabitation relationships. We also represent individuals who wish to utilize alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, such as mediation, arbitration and collaborative law. The firm's partners play an active leadership role among several bar associations and related organizations, including the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, the New York City Bar, the New York State Bar Association, the American College of Family Trial Lawyers, the Interdisciplinary Forum on Mental Health & Family Law, and the Divorce Project of the New York University Child Study Center.

The firm's leaders often serve as lecturers at continuing legal education programs and seminars, and provide commentary on current topics of national and local interest for the print and broadcast news media.
